The jellyfish space travel by ImaginateArtwork The jellyfish space travel by ImaginateArtwork
I love how serene and quiet the jellyfishes are and how they float like there is no gravity. I thought it would be interesting and beautiful at the same time if you took those jellyfishes and put them in space. - space jellyfishes :)

This set is placed in the passage between the the clouds (heaven) and space, where these creatures travel.

For the 1:st virtuoso exhibition.

Update : Holy shit. A daily daviation! THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I hope you will watch me for much more exiting and hopefully even better stuff in the future :)

This is a beautifully executed piece. I especially like the colouring here - you have worked with a limited palette that nevertheless manages to clearly separate the various parts of the image - very good indeed. It's also impressive that you mange to present so "solid" clouds without me for a moment confusing them with anything but just clouds. So the overall impression is very solid and reminds me of the classic sci-fi posters sometimes seen on books or album covers in the 60s-70s.

As for critique I have to points. Firstly, whereas the clouds are overall very good and the overall impression is very clear, there are some parts which are less clear when looking at the details. I know clouds lit up by sunlight can seem to have very clear edges from a distance, but the light in the upper left edge seems very even to me. It's certainly possible for clouds to randomly look like this, but I think you could clarify this by breaking up the edge considerably (you might even consider letting light travel through the clouds to partially light the shadow side here and there). Likewise the "valley" formed in the clouds in the center of the image is fine (suggests some sort of inversion effect?) but I feel the "ridge" to the right is a bit too even and straight to really convey the cloudy impression.

From a compositional point of view, you might also want to consider -not- letting the closest jellyfish's tail escape the frame of the picture. We know it ends just below it - this is made apparent by the more distant jellyfish - but letting the tendrils end in-frame will further add to the alien floathing effect I think you are aiming for.

... but overall this is really nit-picking and I had to look quite closely before finding valid points of critique on this one. Very good job overall!

Beautiful painting!! :) I know what you mean, jellyfish just look really cool and space-y, why not put them in space? These guys look really cool floating in front of that cloud...

There was a show on Discovery (some years back) that talked about Jupiter like planets that support life. They showed creatures like this that swam in the dense atmosphere and there were different kinds of life at every atmospheric level. It was quite fascinating.

I usually fav works of art and run away, but this time, I had to stop and look.

Awesome work, comrade.
